Code of Conduct
Creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone.
AWS Community Day Australia is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.
Our Commitment
We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all participants can engage in meaningful discussions, share knowledge, and build professional connections. This Code of Conduct applies to all event spaces, including the main venue, workshops, sponsor booths, social events, and online spaces related to the event.
Expected Behaviour
- Be respectful — Value each other's ideas, styles, and viewpoints.
- Be inclusive — Seek diverse perspectives. Welcome people of all backgrounds.
- Be considerate — Remember that what you say and do can affect others.
- Be collaborative — Share knowledge freely and help others learn.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants — Alert event staff if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
- Ask for consent — Before taking photos of other attendees or sharing their contact information.
Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours are considered harassment and are unacceptable:
- Offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or technical choices
- Displaying sexual images in public spaces
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour
Consequences
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the event organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes:
- Warning the offender
- Expulsion from the event with no refund
- Reporting the behaviour to appropriate authorities
- Banning from future events
Reporting
If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns, please report it as soon as possible.

Speak to any event staff member (identifiable by their "STAFF" badge) or find the registration desk.

Use our anonymous reporting form (link provided at registration).
All reports will be handled with discretion. You can report anonymously if you prefer. We will work with you to understand the situation and determine an appropriate response.
